Writing Evaluation Service

While home educators can and do evaluate satisfactorily the written assignments of their students, oftentimes it is advantageous to have a third party to offer criticism and guidance to the students.

For those educators who desire a third party to evaluate their students' assignments, Robert Watson, editor of Smarr Publishers, offers a unique service that will help your students to gain proficiency and confidence in their critical writing. Please note that this service is only available to students who are currently studying a course from Smarr Publishers.

The procedure is quite simple.

1. The student completes a writing assignment and forwards the paper via email as an attachment (Word document) to Mr. Watson.

2. Upon receiving the paper, Mr. Watson will notify the student of the date and time of a conference call in order to discuss the paper and to be instructed in the fine points of writing.

3. The student is called by Mr. Watson and joins the conference call at the time and date previously specified. The conference call will be for thirty (30) minutes. Parents are welcome and encouraged to listen in on the conversation.

4. No "grade" is generally offered. However, students who are evaluated for the entire year can receive a grade based on their entire portfolio for the year.

Customers have two options for this service. The customer may wish to have papers evaluated on a per paper basis. In other words, only one or a few papers are evaluated. This option is especially for those educators who want to ensure that they are evaluating their students' papers correctly and want only an occasional confirmation that they are performing the task satisfactorily. The cost per evaluation is $25.00.

The other option is to have all papers evaluated in the course. Typically this will include a total of eight (8) evaluations, or a total of four (4) hours of consultations per course. The cost for this option is $160.00.

The cost of the service is complete with no other charges. Telephone charges are paid by Mr. Watson. Students can submit papers during any month, including summer months. For customers who wish to take advantage of the second option, papers need not be from the same course. In other words, should evaluations begin in the middle of a course, then the remaining evaluations will carry over into the next course.
