Changes to the courses

We continue to upgrade our study guides to meet the demands of the home school educator. We strive for a truly student-driven product.

Because we are wanting to provide some literature helps for middle-school students, we have decided to change some of the selections in our courses.

First, the middle-school literature will be an Introduction to Literature. The selections will be interesting for these young readers.

Second, the current Introduction to Literature and Survey of World Literature courses will continue to be be offered. However, with the middle-school courses, which are under development, educators should consider using the two courses called Survey of Western Literature 1 and 2, because many of the selections in the middle-school will overlap the orginal 5-day courses. These courses will cover literature from ancient times to the early Renaissance in part 1 and the Renaissance to modern times in part 2. However, both courses, as all of our courses, are stand alone units, which do not require rerequisites or any particular order.

Our 4-day Survey of American Literature is essentially the same, except for fewer selections for the year because of changing the schedule to a 4-day week rather than a 5-day one.

Our 4-day Survey of British Literature is significantly different because the works are not arranged in chronological order, but by genre. The student will study poetry first, then drama, and finally novels. The last selection is an essay by Bertrand Russell, "Why I Am Not a Christian."

The following links will offer the differences between the 4-day and 5-day courses.
