What Our Customers Are Saying about Our Courses
From Australia:
My 15 year old son and my 13 year old daughter are both
enjoying your course very much. My son says it's the best course we have
ever done in all our homeschooling....and *that's* saying something. He
can hardly wait for each new section to begin. I'm grateful to you for
helping to instill in him such enthusiasm for poetry and ancient
literature.
From Pennslyvania:
My son is now in 11th grade. He’s very physics and math oriented, although he also likes
philosophy. He has really liked your program and has been using it since 9th grade. He says
that he likes to write, now that he knows how. Also, this year, he applied for and was
accepted as a writer for the teen staff of the local newspaper. We just received his SAT
scores and he got 760 in Critical Reading and 770 in Writing. His essay received a 10 out of
12. I would never have guessed that two years ago.
From Texas:
I just wanted to let you know that we have begun our 4th week of your
Ancient Literature program and are enjoying it very much. Moping Melancholy
Mad was delightful and taught us to see poetry in a fun and positive light.
The Epic of Gilgamesh is very gripping. I have been reading it aloud to my
9th and 10th grade sons, but I had to skip ahead and finish it on my own
because I found it difficult to put down.
Your questions in the student guide are really helping us to understand the
texts. Also, we worked through the first set of writing lessons last week
to great success. I have never had such success in teaching my 9th grader
writing. I might also add that I have a master's in English Linguistics and
taught composition and American Literature for several years at university.
Students who successfully complete your program will be more than
well-prepared for college English courses.
From California:
We are so excited to start your program. We used Survey to World Lit last year with my son, and
now my daughter is ready to start. I think I love the books and the study guides as much as
they do. I never had the opportunity to read so many great works when I was in school, so
it's been a real treat to read along with them and discuss the books together. Thank you for
such a wonderful curriculum!
From Tennessee:
Thank you so much for providing such a complete literature unit of study from my children. It
has been a pleasure looking through the year's units for my upcoming ninth grader. . . .
From North Carolina:
Thank you for your generosity in sending these items for me to examine! It appears that
you've done a wonderful job and I'm excited to use your series. . . .God bless you and your
efforts! I appreciated all your help towards the homeschooling community.
From Virginia:
A couple of years ago, I emailed to thank you for my son's astounding progress using the Smarr
curriculum and to ask your advice about becoming an English teacher myself. Entering this new
school year, I realized I certainly owe you another "thanks"! My son has just entered his
second year of college, after being able to CLEP out of both semesters of freshman English
classes! He is 17, lives at home while attending, and has embraced college life with unabashed
gusto! On campus, he is consistently consulted for help with papers and enjoys the flexibility
of being able to choose lit. and writing classes that truly interest him! When asked how he
learned to write so coherently and maturely, he credits "homeschooling" as his short answer and,
"a Mom that cared enough to teach me how to read great lit and then write about it" as his long
answer to advisers and teachers. . . .
From Mississippi:
Your literature programs are the greatest! I cannot tell you how beneficial your material has
been to us. My eldest son, whom you met last spring at the homeschool conference here in
Mississippi, has just completed his first semester at Belhaven College. He made the
President's list with a 4.0! His Advanced English professor told him that his essays were
"as close to perfect as essays can get." And, Daniel says that if it were not for your program,
World Literature (which he went through last year), he could not have made it. . . .
From California:
We want to thank you for all the hard work you and the other dedicated people have put into
this. We are so thankful for bringing us this opportunity to teach the classics to our children.
Unfortunately many of us have never been required to read many of them ourselves and have not
critically thought through them. . . .
From California:
My daughters who are in college have had nothing but complements on your program. They have
said if it was not for Smarr Literature they would not be doing as well at school. My second
born is majoring in English and has told me so many times that if it were not for your
Literature, she wouldn't be doing so well. Frankly her teachers are impressed with her, also it
has help with all her classes. So thanks thanks thanks. Keep up the great work!!!!
