Scope and Sequence for
Smarr Publishers'
Medieval and Early Renaissance Period (476-1611)
Goal: To have the student develop a love for reading fine literature and to write with conviction while using a clear and pleasing writing style.
Recommended Grade Level: This course is recommended for 9th through 12th graders who are
studying a course in history from the year of our Lord 476 through 1611.
Objectives:
1. The student will read examples of the literature written during this period.
2. The student will read selected historical fictions about this period.
3. The student will be acquainted with the rise and fall of feudalism.
4. The student will learn 15 - 20 vocabulary words a week.
5. The student will learn the form for critical writing using acceptable grammar.
6. The student will develop a pleasing writing style.
7. The student will write and re-write eight (8) argumentative papers.
8. The student will study an objective method of poetic interpretation.
9. The student will evaluate the literature by applying a Biblical worldview and will interpret
the literature solely on the integrity of the text alone.
