Medieval and Early Renaissance Period is recommended for students who will be studying a one-year course beginning with the fall of Rome through the first of the 17th century. This is a 36-week program, which requires reading the following texts (for a description of the work, click on the title):
Studies in Poetry, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Idylls of the King, Beowulf, The Song of Roland, Macbeth, Ivanhoe, The Castle of Otranto, La Vita Nuova, The Black Arrow, Utopia, The Prince and the Pauper, The Comedy of Errors, The Merchant of Venice, Othello.
